22 Year Navy Veteran, Small Business Owner, Part Hawaiian, ran for State Senate in 2012 and obtained 3600 plus votes from this community. Masters Degree. 19 year resident of Makakilo. Conservative tired of watching our community and environment be the dumping ground for O‘ahu. The current neighborhood board majority refuses to hold our elected officials accountable and it is time for a change.
Open spaces, then a traffic light every 200 feet or less, is NOT proper planning (Kapolei town). The traffic light planning situation in Kapolei is insane.
Our roads in Kapolei town are a disgrace, and the city who is supposed to be maintaining them - keeps doing a half effort job at it.
Our kids are having to dodge traffic due to inadequate crosswalks.
Makakilo extension needs to be a primary effort by all - promised to us years ago. This is a safety issue (one way in, one way out). Like Marissa said at a prior meeting, enough lip service....
HCDA in general is out of control. This organization keeps making decisions that affect the adjacent community WITHOUT proper notification of the adjacent communities. This needs to stop.
I do support development projects, small businesses, and private industry as long as there is a valid need, stakeholders involved, and it is properly planned with adequate resources. However lately, these 3 key aspects have been completely "left out".
